Description.
Jade of a faint greenish hue with ochre and greyish flecks. It is carved in the form of an archaic dragon, with a coiled body, large rounded eyes and prominent jaws, after Hongshan culture models.
Such ornaments were used by the elite of the Hongshan culture, whose splendour arose in Neolithic northeastern China, to represent status. It shows age patina.
