Grey and white jade seal ‘Coiled Beast’, Qing dynasty

Carved jade, white and dark grey brindled at the base, with honey-coloured speckles. It has a square base, crowned by a sinuous beast, carved with its head turned and its body coiled. It is decorated with reliefs of volutes and sinuous lines detailing the mane and body. The base bears an engraved seal in relief reading ‘所宝惟贤’. Qing dynasty (1644-1912).
