Description.
Oil on canvas. A realistic and academic portrait that solemnly captures the maturity of a woman. The painting depicts a bust portrait of an elderly woman facing forward. She wears dark clothing. The meticulous treatment of the face, which the painter renders with precision, is particularly noteworthy. The background is plain, austere, and a very deep reddish or maroon. This creates a direct contrast that sets the sitter's head apart. Signature "H. Gimeno Plà 1921" in the lower right corner.
