Description.
Jade of a blackish-green hue with natural ochre and greyish veins. The piece is circular with high, rounded walls resting on a flat base. The exterior is decorated with seven reliefs of Buddha arranged around the body of the bowl, each seated in the lotus position on a throne of petals and framed by a stylised mandorla. The spaces between the figures are covered with extensive engraved and gilded calligraphic inscriptions. It shows patina due to age. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
