Description.
Carved from ivory-coloured Hetian jade with ochre and reddish veins, it depicts a scholar seated in a solemn pose, holding a fan in his right hand, with a small beast at his side. He is dressed in a finely pleated robe gathered at the waist. The lower part features a long engraved poem. The piece is mounted on a carved wooden base.
