Description.
Pendant plaque carved in white Hetian jade with natural honey-coloured veins, depicting Guanyin in high relief. The figure is shown seated in the lotus position within a mandorla-shaped niche, in a serene and compassionate attitude. The work displays great delicacy in the folds of the robe, the facial features, and the details of the headdress. The top of the plaque is decorated with an ornamental scroll border, while the back remains plain. A perforation at the top suggests its use as a pendant. Accompanied by a custom-made, lined box. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
Size: 6.7 x 1 x 3.8 cm
