Hetian jade plaque, ‘Old Man with Donkey and Poem,’ Qing dynasty

Made of white jade. The piece is rectangular in shape with rounded edges and a hole at the top. The front surface features a bas-relief carving of a wise old man guiding a donkey through a landscape, while the reverse side displays a poem in relief. All of this is framed by archaic-style borders. It comes with a custom-made box. Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
