Description.
White jade with reddish areas covering much of the surface. The piece has an irregular rock shape with rounded edges. It is decorated on the front with an incised scene of figures or scholars conversing on a mountain. Above them is an incised text or poem that extends to the back. The stone shows patina from ageing. It comes with a pedestal and a custom-made box, both lined with traditional fabrics. Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
