Description.
Hetian jade stone, organically shaped and smoothly polished, with natural areas of reddish and orange colouring, typical of the oxidation of ancient jade. Both sides feature a carefully incised calligraphic inscription in regular Chinese characters, accompanied by delicate decorative engravings of flowers and human figures, one of them in a contemplative pose wearing traditional clothing. The piece is presented on a rigid textile base, covered in multicoloured embroidered fabric, and is accompanied by a custom-made lined box. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) or later.
