Description.
A rectangular, flat panel carved from Hetian white jade with polished edges, inserted into a dark-coloured carved wooden frame. The jade is pure white with a remarkable natural patina of orange-brown and ochre, which has been deliberately used by the carver to suggest the terrain and vegetation. The decoration is based on a delicate linear engraving, depicting a vast landscape of lake and mountains, with boats sailing and small trees. The scene is complemented by an inscription of characters engraved in the lower left area. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
