Description.
It is notable for its extraordinary chain of jade links, carved from a single block, which connects the body of the vase to the knob on the lid. The vase, with its flattened body and elegant silhouette, is decorated on its sides with handles in the shape of beast heads from which movable rings hang. The surface is adorned with fine incised plant motifs, a beast carved in the round that ‘embraces’ the lower section, and ruyi scrolls. It is presented on a carved wooden plinth. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).
