Description.

Exceptional white Hetian jade vase with a satin finish and translucent appearance. Its square body rises on a flared foot and is divided into four panels, each carved in relief with vigorous scenes of five-clawed dragons ascending among clouds, a symbol of imperial power, strength and protection. The dragons are depicted with sinuous bodies, meticulously incised scales and expressive open heads, conveying dynamism and majesty.

The neck features two symmetrical handles carved in the shape of zoomorphic heads, from whose mouths hang movable rings. The fitted lid is topped by a freestanding figure of a fierce, upright dragon. The piece rests on a wooden base carved in high relief with geometric motifs and stylised masks.
