Description.
Carved white Hetian jade vase with lid, flattened oval ‘bianhu’ shape, with a cylindrical neck and flared base. The lid is conical and simple. The jade is pure white with a fine, shiny polish, evoking ‘lamb fat’. The decoration focuses on the side handles, carved in the shape of elephant heads, from which movable rings hang. The body is smooth and undecorated. The vase is presented on a carved wooden base. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
