Description.
Carved jade in a soft white colour. It has a flat, rectangular tray shape with stepped corners. Inside, there is a relief of a sinuous dragon emerging from the bottom of the piece in pursuit of a ‘flaming pearl’. The creature is sculpted in great detail, with the scales and facial features defined by precise incisions. It shows patina due to ageing. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
