Press 'Program an autobid'in order to confirm
A carefully sculpted figure in white jade, depicting the Buddha Amitābha in an attitude of meditation. He is shown seated in padmāsana, with bare feet peeping out from under the folds of the robe. The hands are arranged in the gesture of meditation or dhyāna mudrā, with the thumbs touching, while the rest of the hands rest on the crossed legs. The face conveys a serene expression, with half-closed eyes and lips slightly curved into a smile. The head is covered with neatly curled curls that culminate in an ushnisha, a symbol of enlightenment. The drapery, with its soft, undulating lines, falls symmetrically over the body. The lower right part of the sculpture has a striking chromatic contrast, the result of the natural oxidation of the jade, which adds depth to the composition. The sculpture is accompanied by a pedestal lined with brocade silk. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
