Jade Cong, Zhou dynasty

Green jade darkened by the passing of the centuries. It has a congular shape, with a quadrangular exterior and a hollow rounded interior. Both the foot and the mouth are circular in shape and narrower than the body, which is decorated with incised motifs of archaic scrolls framing humanoid faces with solemn and majestic expressions, large, open eyes, pronounced cheekbones, curved and bushy eyebrows and hair, closed lips and square ears.   Zhou Dynasty (AD 770-221) or later.
