Description.
Carved from jade, it depicts two mythical beasts. The main figure, with its robust form, is kneeling, its arms folded in its lap, its large jaws open and its head powerful. A small stylised dragon lies on its back, joining the two creatures together. The jade is light in colour, almost whitish, with reddish-ochre spots. Shang dynasty (c. 1600-1046 BC). o posterior.
