Description.
Light-coloured carved jade with slight reddish spots. On a trapezoidal base decorated with incised scrolls and two fine openwork handles on the sides, it depicts a majestic phoenix with its legs bent, facing forward, its wings spread and resting on its body, a sinuous tail and a sharp curved beak. Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 25 AD).
