Description.
Yellowish-green jade with a marked mineral patina in shades of ochre and dark brown. The piece depicts a ram resting with its limbs tucked under its body. It stands out for its synthesis of features, particularly the large curved horns. It is decorated with archaic bas-reliefs that define the musculature and coat. Shang dynasty (approx. 1600–1046 BC) or later.
