Description.
Sculpture carved in the round from natural nephrite jade. It depicts a mythical anthropomorphic figure often identified as the “Sun God” (太阳神) in a crouching position, characterized by two long vertical projections on the head and folded wings on the back. The jade, which is pale green and translucent, has natural reddish-brown veins on the upper and lower parts. Hongshan culture (c. 4700-2900 BC). or later.
The piece is accompanied by a gemological certificate issued by Hong Kong Kowloon Jade & Jewellery Laboratory LTD in 2025. SC241757.
