Description.
Made of celadon-coloured jade. It depicts an anthropomorphic figure in a crouching position, with a humanoid head at one end and a bird's head at the other. It is notable for its decoration with stylised geometric patterns created using fine turquoise inlay, and for the small pink stones arranged on the eyes and body. These types of hybrid figures symbolise transformation and the link between the human and spiritual worlds. Shang dynasty (approx. 1600–1046 BC) or later.
