Description.
A delicate agate sculpture known as ‘南红’ in white with areas of intense red, depicting a crane seated in a serene pose. The figure is finely carved, with folded wings decorated with fine geometric engravings depicting plumage. The head, beak and fruits are made of agate, and are notable for their vibrant chromatic contrast. The crane holds in its beak a bunch of fruit, probably peaches, with thick stems and stylised leaves. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
