Description.
Carved in light brown jade with a dark patina, depicting two children in a festive pose. One is standing and the other is squatting, both holding large Chinese coins with a square hole in the centre, a traditional symbol of fortune and prosperity. The details of the folds of the garments and the faces are simple but expressive. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) or later.
