Description.
The piece, carved from brown jade with natural veins, features a stylised figure of a reclining mythical animal with an elongated horn on the upper part. The rectangular base bears the inscription ‘兰不言而自芳’ (Orchids speak not, yet they are fragrant). Ming dynasty (1368–1644) or later.
