Description.
A finely carved and fretworked circular jadeite plaque. The central motif depicts a large imperial chariot with a stylised spoked wheel at the base and an elaborate gabled roof with geometric motifs. Next to it is an elegant phoenix with sinuous plumage, a symbol of nobility and prosperity. The rim of the piece is decorated with a motif of auspicious clouds framing the scene. The tonality of the stone varies between green, white and yellow hues, creating a harmonious visual effect. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
