‘Jingangtou’ agate pendant, Liao Dynasty

Crafted from natural agate with a translucent blue-grey hue. The piece has a gently tapered pyramidal shape, highlighting a central ‘eye’ formed by a succession of natural concentric bands in shades of white, ochre and orange. The piece is notable for its polish, which gives the surface a vitreous sheen. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
