Description.
Wooden box, decorated using the carved lacquer technique (tixi) in red on a black background. The piece is circular, with rounded edges, and is topped by a lid of the same shape. The ornamentation is striking, featuring a mask of a mythical beast with powerful features, surrounded by geometric patterns, while the sides display a band of classical scrolls. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
