Description.
A large square seal carved from Shoushan stone of the ‘chicken’s blood’ or marbled variety, in a vivid red hue with upper areas in celadon grey. It features an openwork high-relief depiction of an archaic dragon with its young swirling around a flaming pearl, and retains a collector’s label (康熙) in one corner. The square base bears archaic seal script characters with traces of red cinnabar. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) or later.
