Description.
Carved from an imposing block of jade in a deep spinach-green colour, with dark veins running across the surface. The seal is crowned by a relief-carved finial depicting two intertwined imperial dragons, with highly detailed scaly bodies, flowing manes and powerful claws, flanking a central pearl. The four sides of the square body feature an extensive incised and gilded inscription with calligraphic texts extolling the imperial figure. The base bears the seal impression with the characters ‘乾隆御笔之宝’ in relief. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) or later.
