Description.
A rare edition of the children's literature classic written by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson). Published by Macmillan and Co., London, this copy corresponds to the early edition of the ‘Seventeenth Thousand’ (Seventeenth Printing) from 1869. The book is presented in its original red cloth binding, with bevelled edges and decorated with gold engravings. The work is famous for its 42 original illustrations by the artist John Tenniel. The first pages (including the title page) bear the Macmillan and Co. imprint (1869).
