Description.
A mother-of-pearl fan, crafted with a beautiful iridescent mother-of-pearl stick featuring subtle vertical grooves that enhance the material's natural luster. The paper or vellum panel depicts a hand-painted scene in the galant or 18th-century style, representing a courtly gathering in a refined period setting with richly attired figures, flanked by delicate borders of floral garlands and gilded scrolls at the ends. The piece is arranged ornamentally and framed in a fan case with a garnet damask background and a carved and gilded wooden frame decorated with laurel leaf motifs. 19th century.
Size: 32 x 61 cm; Dimensions with frame: 54 x 74 cm
