Nanhong agate bead bracelet, Qing dynasty

Comprising eleven spherical red agate beads known as ‘Nánhóng Agate’ (南红玛瑙). The material is notable for its khaki-orange-red colouring. The beads display natural veining patterns and ‘cinnabar spots’, characteristic of agate. The beads are interspersed with small gold-plated metal spacers and leather discs that protect the stone.  or later.
