Description.
Comprising 108 thick, disc-shaped beads carved from natural agate. The piece is notable for the extraordinary variety and beauty of its agates, which feature banding with concentric and ‘eye’ patterns in shades of bluish-grey, white, brown and ochre. Each bead has been polished to highlight the stones’ lustre. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
