Oriental wooden and painted silk screen, 19th - 20th century

Wooden screen with polychrome foot in black and gold. The five leaves are covered on both sides by panels of painted black silk. On one side, they represent a scene with palace characters next to a pier. The other side shows a lush garden with a large peacock on a cherry tree branch surrounded by colorful flowers, birds, rocks, lotuses and a branch with poppies. The silk has tears and is generally worn.
