Description.

Ink, pigments and gold on silk. Painting depicting a piece of clothing for an imperial empress. Accompanied by an explanatory text, executed in ink, describing the object depicted. The image of the object is painted with great realism. The "Imperial Household Department" was an institution during the Qing dynasty whose purpose was to administer the internal affairs of the imperial family.
