Description.
Two masks carved from wood: the smaller one, with a rectangular silhouette featuring geometric holes and traces of white kaolin, is typical of the ritual tradition of eastern Congo (the Lega/Bembe region); the larger one, highly expressive, features conical protrusions or horns, polychrome facial decoration and a prominent tongue protruding from the mouth, with incised teeth.
