Description.
Two carved wooden lanterns, probably zitan or hongmu, adorned with panels of deep, opaque spinach-green jade, with designs enhanced by gold inlay. They feature a rectangular body flanked by wooden frames, resting on stepped bases and a flared neck, all adorned with reliefs of fretwork, leaves and archaic patterns. The jade decoration on each side features incised and gilded designs highlighting the image of two five-clawed imperial dragons dancing vertically to reach the flaming pearl amid stylised cloud scrolls.
