Description.
Two lidded vases carved from white Hetian jade, shaped like flattened pears, with broad shoulders and rectangular bases. The jade is pure white and uniform in colour, with an extremely fine polish. The decoration focuses on long texts; the main body of each vase is engraved in low relief with a dense inscription of Chinese characters that form a poem. The neck is flanked by two handles carved in the shape of dragon heads, with fierce expressions and curled tongues. At the base of each vase is an engraved seal with four characters: “乾隆年制”.
Size: 8.2 x 3.9 x 8 cm (x2).
