Description.
A pair of table lamps in the Meissen style. They feature two elegant figures made of polychrome porcelain, set on openwork bronze bases and topped with trimmings. The lamps retain their original period textile shades with a flared shape and sinuous profile. They are lavishly decorated with guipure lace, embroidered trimmings, and a striking top trim gathered into grayish-toned fabric ruffles. The bases consist of two freestanding figures forming a typical pastoral or courtly scene. One of the figures depicts a young courtier wearing a wide-brimmed hat and holding a basket, and the other a young lady accompanied by a small lamb at her feet. Both figures are surrounded by sculpted plant motifs.
