LIVE AUCTION 10TH APRIL 2024 - 1ST SESSION - ASIAN ART

Pair of precious Zitan wooden shelves, Qing Dynasty

Awarded For. 3.600 €
Lot 60.
Description.

Two shelves made of zitan wood, with embossed and partially fretworked decorations. Each of them is completely identical to the other, but made of mirror, so that they can be placed together in perfect harmony, either in this position or the other way round.

The shelves in different positions and shapes are designed to be able to place and show off pieces of great beauty. Each of these shelves has a carved border that surrounds its interior and enhances the space, these borders are carved and fretworked in the form of branches ending in delicate flowers, enhancing the beauty and harmony of the zitan furniture.

Each one, individually, has a square format slightly stretched in height, but when joined together, their rectangular proportion is spectacular. They can be displayed either together or separately. The width of the shelves is slightly narrow, made especially so that they can be placed on top of any table, hallway, chest of drawers, etc. Both the base and the top of the shelves are made of a single zitan board. Qing Dynasty (1644 and 1912). In good condition.
