Description.
A bowl with a porcelain lid, with a slightly domed globular body resting on a circular foot decorated with vertical grooves and surmounted by a Greek fretwork border in iron-red enamel. The wall of the bowl rises gently towards a wide mouth. The lid, with a convex profile, follows the line of the bowl and is surmounted by a spherical knob for easy handling. Both the body and lid are richly decorated with stylised flower and foliage motifs in red enamel on a white background, emphasising the symmetry and balance of the design. The base features a square seal in underglaze blue ‘大清乾隆年制’. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
