Description.
Rectangular porcelain plaque enamelled in cobalt-blue underglaze, set in a wooden frame of reddish-black tones. The decoration depicts a falcon in full flight, wings outstretched, above a pine tree with stylized branches, executed with great delicacy. The scene conveys strength and vigilance, qualities traditionally associated with the falcon, while the pine tree symbolizes longevity and moral firmness.
The painting technique is expressive and fluid, with an intentional use of dripping cobalt and an ethereal atmosphere, characteristic of the renowned ceramist Wang Bu (1898-1968), famous for his monochrome blue landscapes and birds. A blue seal can be seen in the lower right-hand corner.
Size: 36 × 24 cm
