Rectangular inkstone “Poetry”, Qing dynasty

A rectangular inkstone carved from Duan stone (端砚), dark in colour and with a polished surface. The piece has calligraphic inscriptions on its faces, including traditional poems. The circular hole for dissolving the ink is located at the top of the front. Such stones were not only functional, but also objects of contemplation and cultural appreciation. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
