Red and black lacquered wooden box, Qing dynasty.

Both parts of the box are decorated on the outside. Two scenes of similar subject matter are shown, one with children at play and the other with a wise man and a girl. Both scenes are surrounded by a landscape with rocks and trees. The background is made of red lacquer carved with geometric motifs: rhombuses with flowers, triangles, rectangles and waves. In very good condition with slight losses to the lacquer on the edges.
