Description.
Rectangular carved wooden box covered with a deep red lacquer finish, with dark metal fittings. The lid is adorned with a creamy white jade plaque featuring an intricate high relief carving depicting a serpentine dragon emerging from a dense background of floral scrolls and lotus leaves. Shows signs of wear due to age. Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
