Red-glazed lobed-rim dish, Qing Dynasty

Awarded For. 300 €
Lot 185.
Description.

Ceramic decorated with a deep-red glaze applied to the surface. The red glaze has an irregular coverage that leaves the background visible in certain areas through cracks or interruptions in the upper glaze, creating a contrasting colour effect. The intensity of the red glaze increases progressively from the rim towards the centre, so that at the edges, where the layer is fainter, the ochre background colour is fully visible. On the base is the mark ‘大清乾隆年制’ in blue glaze on a white ground. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
