Description.
Ruyi carved in wood with a sinuous shape, inspired by the natural growth of roots or branches. The piece is decorated with lingzhi mushrooms (靈芝) in relief, a symbolic figure associated with longevity, immortality and good fortune. The mushroom stems extend continuously along the curved body, integrating organically with the silhouette of the piece. The ruyi is traditionally a ceremonial and symbolic object, especially in the Qing dynasty, where it represented authority and good wishes. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
