Description.
Work executed in gouache on paper. The composition, with its careful simplicity and luminous colors, depicts two nude women, one wearing a red hat, on a boat by the sea. The linear treatment, stylized forms, and hedonistic atmosphere are characteristic features of the Art Deco movement. Signed “SACHA ZALIOUK” in the lower left corner.
The artist, born in Odessa and trained in Paris, developed an extensive career linked to the Montparnasse circles and female portraiture in the 1920s and 1930s.
