Description.
An interesting collection of Chinese banknotes issued throughout the 20th century, belonging to different banks and historical periods. The collection includes banknotes of different denominations and designs, some with architectural motifs, landscapes and portraits of important figures. Inscriptions in both Chinese and English characters can be seen on some banknotes, reflecting the economic and political diversity of the period. The banknotes show a varied range of colours and graphic styles typical of early and mid-century issues.
