Description.

The central body is oval-shaped and aquamarine or celadon in color, decorated with rich geometric and floral borders in gold, framing refined pictorial scenes of mythological or courtly themes with classical figures surrounded by nature. At the sides are two elegant white porcelain handles depicting sculpted female sphinxes with gilded finishes. The top of the lid culminates in an intricate sculpted crest depicting a seated deity or classical figure, attended by two small cherubs next to an amphora. The entire piece rests on a fluted stem that connects to a wide, matching circular base, which is finished at its base with four robust gilt bronze legs shaped like lion's claws.

The Sèvres mark, corresponding to the 18th century, suggests it should be hand-painted. The accompanying red mark is printed and likely dates from the Ancien Régime period (Louis XV and Louis XVI), creating an anachronism. Gilded in perfect condition and with molded biscuit handles, not handmade.
